Essex Ladies County Golf

IT’S A YES FOR ESSEX COUNTY GOLF!

It’s been a busy week for County Golf.  On Monday Essex Ladies Golf held its AGM at Crondon Park.  It was a bumper turnout with over a 100 members and delegates attending.  The meeting run by County President Nicola Thomas with her usual no nonsense efficiency. The Management Team speeches were short and to the point and this was appreciated by the audience.

Trophies were represented to the winners and the photographs are below - well done to you all.

Sadly, we said goodbye to two members of the team.  Nicola Thomas and Janice Hazledine. It’s always bittersweet when dedicated members like Janice and Nicola step down. Over the years their hard work and commitment has made a significant impact on women’s golf in Essex.  Their contributions will be remembered fondly. And we wish them well in their new found freedom!

Of course the highlight of the meeting was the vote for unification with the EGU.  There were 41 delegates present and an additional 4 proxy votes. The vote for unification was unanimous. It shows strong support and a shared vision for the future. We still awaited the ECU vote later in the week.

And so on Thursday all eyes (well all the management team’s eyes) were on the ECU AGM at Upminster Golf Club.  Those in favour - a sea of voting cards appeared!  Those against - just one voting card appeared.

There is a lot of hard work ahead but later this year Essex County Golf will be launched.  We will keep you up to date with progress and developments.  If you have any questions or queries please use our info@essexladiesgolf.org address where your messages will be picked up promptly.

Happy golfing!
